Blarney Castle, Co. Cork
One of our first days of rain didn't deter us from this stop! This castle keep was REALLY tall! And the stairs were impossibly narrow!
The line to kiss the stone wasn't nearly as long as you would think! Getting closer... A beautiful view from the top of the castle
It sure looks a little awkward, doesn't it. And it is a LONG way down! Go Dave, Go!
This rock looks like a witch The area we're walking was once a druid place of worship! And under this tree is the "witch's kitchen"
This tree is estimated to be 1000 years old! And it is growing out of this rock!

Blarney Castle was built in 1446 by Dermot McCarthy.
Little remains today except for the keep. Visitors flock
to this ruined castle to see the legendary Blarney Stone.
Kissing the stone is a long-standing tradition to confer
a magical eloquence, "the gift of gab." The stone is set
in the wall below the castle battlements, and in order to
kiss it, the visitor is grasped by the feet and suspended
backward under the parapet.
