St. Finian's Monastery, Co. Kildare
Historical landmark sign Although a bit creepy, a cool church There were high celtic crosses all over the place!
Still a bit creepy Finding our first geocache! We attracted the attention of some bovine locals.
Logging into the geocache Thank you Jessica for indulging me in this hunt! And the kine move on.

St. Finian, who is generally regarded as the father of
Irish Monasticism, settled in nearby Clonard in 520, and
started the most important monastic school of the 6th
century on this site. In the 16th century, the Church
of Ireland erected the present church with a 15th century
baptismal font. The churchyard was the site of discovery
for our geocache treasure hunt. We took nothing, but left
a prized SPAM paperclip. Click here to learn more about
geocaching. If you have the means, I highly recommend
traveling with a GPS.
